Carrot Cake on Black Friday

Made some carrot cake today. Skipped the Black Friday hoopla and just relaxed at home.

Watched "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-ya Sisterhood" today. Yesterday I watched Jane Austen's "Persuasion" and the BBC mini series "Wives and Daughters"

I really like english films. Wives and Daughters really did a great job with the set and the costumes.

The issues in the film were not much different from the ones we face today. It's actually a very interesting movie. Makes you think that people are all the same, then and now....Asian or English.

Happy Halloween Cupcakes

Made some dark chocolate cupcakes with butter cream frosting on top. Brought it to work today for Halloween. I brought 11 and there is only one left. It tasted pretty good. People really love sweets.

I think after today I’m gonna go back on my diet. I bought this Korean recipe book that shows you how much to eat if you wanna reduce your caloric intake. I may start that. But I know my mom won’t stay quiet. She’ll have something to say about everything I make. So I’m glad that soon I’ll have my own kitchen to make my creations…free of nag.

I love her though…she’s a sweetheart. She just always puts her two cents in when I cook.

Made some Penne Pesto Pasta with some ground up sausage on top last night. It was pretty tasty! I think I'm going on Carb overdose though...but I think I was craving it. After being on that chicken breast diet...I needed the carbs.
It'll get to me soon enough, but I'll enjoy it for now.
Does anyone realize that mom's CANNOT just say it tastes good!! They have to say...why did you try it this way? The pasta...should it have been cooked longer? What about trying it with Spaghetti next time? You should have used my ground up beef that I have in the freezer....is that what this is? AHHHH!!

Roll cake with cream cheese filling

Made a Roll Cake for the first time today. Used Cream cheese filling.

Gonna make chocolate cupcakes and perhaps another cheesecake...

Sandeezy Zoo....a friggin broiler

I went to the San Diego Zoo this past Saturday for Brian's work luncheon. We played tennis in the morning and basically basting in our own sweat. It was pretty gross. We were both glistening and dripping. Stupid idea to shower after tennis because about 10 minutes after we entered the park, we were just as sweaty. Food was mediocre....hotdogs or sloppy joe's....bleh. But it was alright since we were both pretty hungry.

It felt like a chore sitting under what little shade that the umbrellas provided....eating a 3rd rate lunch....losing more fluid than I was putting in.

It got better once we got on the Skyfari. I believe we were on it 3 times or so. It was the best thing that we did there...cooled us off nicely.

I'd have to say that the polar bears were the most fun to watch. I felt bad for them though....hanging out in a winter coat in the dead of summer.

It was so nice to get back in the car....I love AC!
