Made poached eggs for a late breakfast today. Ate it with smoked turkey on a sourdough english muffin.

Second day of Vacation
Today is Tuesday, also my second official day of vacation. I have a long break, but I can't stop feeling like I may end up wasting it all away already. Crazy as it may sound, I have been waking up around 7:30 am for the last two days. I've done a little bit of cleaning up here and there. Well, a lotta bit. We have a new roommate who is to live with us for about half a year until our other friend's room is available. Yesterday I moved most of my stuff and organized our bedroom to act as both sleeping quarters and a study room. I went to Ross and Target to look for storage supplies and came back with two cute baskets and several closet drawers. I also took a whirl at decorating our living room. All I really did was add an end table between our couches...really?...Is that all I did? Hmmmm...seems like I did more. Oh yes, I put my new couch pillows on our couches. Looks nice! Now the big task is filling up our empty walls with some form of decor. I've been looking at a website that lets you print huge versions of your jpegs onto regular letter-sized paper. I printed one and am currently flattening them out. I bought foam board to see if I can paste them on there. We have a HUGE wall in our living room that is quite bare. I've decided on a few of Degas' ballet paintings for our wall. Let's hope this comes out okay.
Today was shopping day. Around noon, I went to the mall to buy christmas gifts for the family. I didn't even realize that I hadn't had anything to eat until 11. I decided that I'd go to Panera at the mall and pick something up. There were a LOT of people at the mall. Very hectic. So I took my Tomato Mozarella Panini with Black Bean soup in a brown paper bag and headed out to my car. I briefly thought about scarfing down my sandwich while I was in my car before I left the mall, but there was already someone who wanted my spot, so I decided to wait. Braving the rough and wet weather, I made it to Joann's in Poway. I turned off my car, brought out my ipod, turned on Julie and Julia and enjoyed a nice 15 minute lunch break in my car. The rain did a nice job of blurring the outside, so it felt like I was in my own little private space.
Later in the afternoon. I tried to do yoga. I put the DVD in. But just thinking about doing all the exercises made me tired even before I started. So I took a nap instead.
Made Chicken and Penne Alfredo with peas and mushrooms for dinner. Fed the hubby and the roomies. They liked it. I may bake tomorrow. But we shall see.

Relaxing finals week
Studying for finals has actually allowed me to rest, oddly enough. Usually finals week is pretty hectic and stressful, but for me, I find it a time to cram while having time to relax. No clinicals to go to, no patients to pick out and spend hours writing up a care map for them, no care plans, papers, projects to work on. I would Love to do nothing but study.
Anyways, my glorious five weeks of free time is not too far away. I've already booked our trip to Tahoe and am very excited to board in some good snow! I alreay have a list of books that I am going to read. I've received several books as gifts, but just never had the time to read. I will finally finish the twilight books and the harry potter books and watch all the movies. I'm gonna be a good wife and cook a lot more for Brian. I love cooking so that will be very relaxing and fun.
I've started on a diet about 2 weeks or so ago. I've lost about 2 pounds I believe. Starving sucks by the way. Well I wouldn't call it starving. For example, Brian and I went to go eat Soon Doo Boo and I only mixed a spoonful of rice into my bowl and passed on the egg. It "looked" like I was eating quite voraciously, but it's just tasty soup and tofu.
Hmmm...blogger just deleted half my post....grrrr....

Seoul Sounds
Was watching one of my new favorite channels TvK and came across a story on this guy's blog. He lives in Korea and goes around recording the different sounds he encounters in Korea. It's pretty cool. He usually adds a picture to go along with the sounds to help with your imagination. I will visit this site often.

Cam Whore
So this apparently makes me a "cam whore"...Well that's what my husband calls me whenever he spots these pictures in my phone. I took these pics last Saturday night in my kitchen while I was studying/being lost. It was a nice way to take a break. Otherwise, I'd be on Youtube...wasting my time watching cute Korean boy-banders be cute. Such a sad life I lead as a nursing student.
Well, I did accomplish one thing last weekend. I ran a 5K!! Brian, Steven, Eric and I ran the Judicata 5K Run/Walk at Mission Bay last Saturday for Eric's School. Steve, Brian and I ran the thing in about 33 minutes I think. It was 33 mins and some-odd seconds. I was quite pooped afterwards, but I felt accomplished. The cool breeze of the bay helped because it was BAKING in Mira Mesa. I stepped out of our door around 9 am and I thought to myself, "Great...I'm gonna throw up today". But I ended the day without vomitting! yay! I still remember running an 8 minute mile my freshman year of highschool and afterwards, hanging by the trashcan...waiting to vomit (didn't vomit then either...but came pretty close)...bleh. How I ran an 8 minute mile? I have no clue. Oh~ to be young ~

Coincidence
As some of you may know. I love listening to Korean radio. That's probably the only radio I listen to...besides NPR. Anywho, I was driving back from the gym and started thinking about what it would be like to be a nurse in Korea. A listener wrote to the show that I was listening to, saying that she was a nurse, working during the Korean Thanksgiving holiday. And right smack dab in the middle of my thought, I hear a commercial on the Korean radio advertising for Nursing School in Korea. For a second I froze, feeling a greater power possibly attempting to speak to me (j/k) hehe. Well, I did smile and thought...perhaps this is a sign. We'll just have to see. For now that doesn't seem like it's in the cards. But sometimes I do think I believe in signs.

Answer to Quiz
Answer to quiz question about the picture of me in my kitchen! So I was taking a picture of myself in my kitchen with my phone. I was using the front camera instead of the main camera lens so I could see myself as I took the shot. What I did not realize was that this automatically takes a mirror image of the actual picture. I'm still not entirely sure as to why it takes a mirror image. This feature is used for video conference calls and us humans are more or less symmetrical so most will not notice the mirror image. But what if you needed to video conference a text? Maybe someone can explain this to me...

Take a good look at this picture. There is something different about this picture. If you've been to my home, you could figure it out... Any guesses?

Doong-goo-leh, Doong-goo-leh
Studying at Carol's is very nice. I went over to her place last night for a sleep-over and now I am studying for my test tomorrow with yummy Doong-goo-leh tea with honey, prepared by none other than my wonderful seester. She made me yummy breakfast too. I always feel so pampered when I'm at her place.
On the other hand, I haven't really seen my husband for the last two days. Well I did "see" him, but probably for 5 minutes as I briefly opened my eyes as he rattled his way into the room and in and out of the bathroom with his sonicare that was unusually loud that night. I woke up once again at his loud nose-blowing in the shower. Brian is so sweet though. He set his alarm early so he could wake up and see me off to school. So sweet he is. Unfortunately he set it too late so I was already gone. What is funny is that I actually gave him a kiss goodbye before I left! I asked him about it later online and he said he didn't remember. But sometimes I do wonder if he is really awake when I give him kisses goodbye. Each morning I leave for school, I reach over to give him a kiss and he puckers his lips to meet mine and mumbles a goodbye. Sometimes I think I may have trained some sort of automatic pucker reaction into him.
Anywhoo...tonight will be another night of studying. Wait, what am I saying..? My whole life these days is nothing but studying. Sigh. I shall spend some quality time with my hubby this weekend.
Oh, but all the reading!! sigh...

The reason I can't lose weight
The reason I can't lose weight is because I love food so much. You know how people can't decide what they want to eat and they end up wasting time trying to find a place to eat? Well you probably won't have a problem like that if you eat with me. I will always have a place in mind, or rather, a food in mind.
Another reason I can't lose weight is because I don't have the willpower to eat nothing but chicken breasts day in and day out to get that perfect body. My mom always said to me that no matter how much I exercise, if I don't reduce my intake, it will be useless. My reply to her always was that I didn't plan on eating more, so the exercise would only help. The math works out!!
Well, I have to say now that my mom was right...in a sense. I renewed my membership at LA Fitness and started run/walking two days ago. Today, I did about 3 miles on the treadmill and came home, very hungry. I whipped up a pasta dish with garlic, tomatoes, onions, red bell peppers and olive oil. Sprinkled on some parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers, served myself up a plate and devoured it. It was delish!
Unfortunately for me, I then served up a second plate for myself...sigh. I mean...it was wonderful! But now I have consumed two servings of dinner. I figure that had I not exercised, I probably wouldn't have had the second helping. I remember briefly thinking to myself, "Hey, you exercised, so it should be okay."
NO! It's not okay!
I exercised, yes...but I ate more that I usually do for dinner! I am weak...sigh. Willpower...I need more of it.
I am currently watching for about the 4th time, Julie and Julia. I have it playing as my background "music". I love it! Just love it! I probably will end up memorizing the lines just like I did with You've Got Mail.

out like a light
I had clinical lab all day yesterday...close to a 12 hour day. We learned a whole bunch of things, but most importantly, we learned how to start an IV. We practiced on dummy hands and arms, so it wasn't as scary as it is gonna be when we are at the actual facility, but I at least got the hang of the whole procedure. Last night after class, I headed straight to California Thai Cafe to get some yummy takeout. I ordered Tom Kha Gai soup and some pad thai. I came home, sat myself in front of some good Korean Variety Entertainment and enjoyed my dinner. Brian came home from his golf lesson close to 9:00 pm and the first thing I did was look and feel for his veins. It freaked him out a little and he yelled "bad touch!!" In any case, he has very nice and BIG veins. We have our testing next week so I will have to continually practice...(pretend practice) Sigh...I hope I get this.
Anywhoo, around 9:30 I lay down on the bed to review my lab skills and the next thing I know, it's 12:40 am!! Brian said I looked "cute" sleeping so he took a picture with his phone...I will delete this picture. It was not a flattering picture.
Well I am pretty wide awake, so I will begin reading.

Weekend~
First photo: Aloha burger from Crazee Burger. YUM!
Second photo: Honey Milk Green Tea Boba from Tea Station. (I only drink this) Apparently they have a new thing now where you can choose between Sweet, Regular, and Light. I picked light and it was pretty good! Now if only Starbucks would take on this idea...
Third photo: Cutest little Android I got as a gift from my friend Jack. (thanks Jack!)
Current Status: very full and need to read...but falling asleep...

what I'll use you for
Every morning that I didn't have school, but needed to read or study early in the day, I used Solitare to wake my brain up. I knew if I didn't play that game, I would immediately fall back asleep once I started reading. I've also been wondering how I was going to keep up with this blog thing on a regular basis, but I think I've figured it out! I can use this to wake me up! I possibly may have enough of my dream still with me to blog about it! Speaking of dreams, I just took a 45 minute nap in my chair after reading a couple pages of my med/surg book. The guy from SS501, Kim Hyun Joong was in it...and so was the celebrity Boom and....come to think of it...Peter was in my dream too! Oh wait! Brian's car was also in it. I had a dream that I was driving a car on the freeway with either my eyes closed or with my back turned, but I was amazingly not getting into any accidents. I would brake and slow down, half expecting to hit the car in front of me, but I came to a stop just fine! (I should have figured it was a dream from just that)
Anyways, I woke up from my nap and went to the fridge to reach for something to eat. Unfortunately the first thing I saw was a chocolate muffin. I ate half of it and started to wonder why I was eating this. I didn't even like it! That's when I decided to throw the rest of them away...not before snapping of picture though...
I wondered why Hyun Joon was in my dream, but I did start watching a drama with him in it. I really liked him in "We Got Married". His quirky wit and humor really made him interesting to watch. I will surely enjoy this drama. I can already tell that his acting skills have improved.

Kitty ♥
I miss the kitty~
Glancing at the Friskies kitty food at the end of an aisle at Vons as I was picking up my butter yesterday, I thought how empty it felt not having Kitty around. She was quite a task with all the poo, but she still made me happy. Brian and I talked about the kitty like we would a child...updating each other on the new and cute things that she did. Good thing we didn't keep her another week becuase I would have really gotten attached to her. But she is in better hands now so I don't worry. She is probably bouncing her way around our neighbor's home, hopefully not pooping all over the place though.

What I made of my last day of vacation
(bruschetta with tomato-mango salsa and mozarella with basil)
Today is officially my last day of vacation, so I wanted to make it something more memorable than a day just sitting at home, watching TV. Last night I watched the movie Julie and Julia and I just about fell in love with the movie. It will definitely be one of those movies that I watch over and over when I feel down or want to snuggle on a cold rainy day. Anyways, watching the movie got me motivated to cook and blog. I was really into that a few years ago, but life got in the way. I guess that is good that I didn't feel like I needed to write in a blog to take up my time. So what am I doing now? Not too sure. I hope to keep this going though. I remember printing a whole book of my old xanga entries when I was living in LA. I wonder where it is...perhaps I will reprint them. In case anyone is interested, here is my old blog.
I really have a problem with tangents...
Back to what I did today.. So I made Chicken pot pie today. I got the recipe from simplyrecipes.com. I was just about to make boeuf bourguignon with Ina Garten's recipe, but I decided not to after I saw that the recipe called for cognac and whole bottle of wine. Maybe later. Well after a whole morning of looking up recipes, I left the house around 11:30 to go to Vons to get my ingredients. I tried Bed Bath to see if they had some ramekins, but they didn't have any that were big enough. Target didn't have big ones either. So I went to Ross, hoping for some good luck. That place is just great. I will have to go back there to decorate my home. Anywhoo, I found exactly what I needed. It always seems like I get the last ones they have! But it really was the last two sets they had...I think.
I had spent waaaay too much time walking around at Ross and it was already 6 pm. I needed to get started on this pie pronto! Well, all I will say is that we ate dinner around 8:45 pm...but I did learn to make my own pie crust from scratch!! I'm glad that I did it. I feel slightly accomplished~
(chicken pot pies~)
Brian and Steven enjoyed the pies. The pie top was nice and flaky~ ^_^
